Back in the Building

When was the last time you were on Merrick Blvd. to get a tattoo from the good people at One Stroke?
Well if you're like many of our loyal customers or someone who had been planning on becoming one may have found out, is that One Stroke is no more.... :(

The great news is that after a year or so, those fantastically creative, mind bending artists that you came to love and admire are back in the (new)building together again with a overwhelming commitment to become New York's number 1 spot for ink and artwork.

It's Been A Long Time...

I apologize for not updating in a while, but with Spring officially here, business has been picking up. However during the off- season I kept busy drawing flash and submitting work to various publications of which I've posted here and there. So now, I have to play catch-up. Check it...

In the current issue of Urban Ink Magazine, you'll find both Volume 1 & 2 of 'Black Book - Images from the Urban," in the New and Tattoos section in the front. I'm excited to see my flash published because my man Twig (Inked) told me, when he blessed me with my first tat machine, that I would make a killing in this game with the way I draw. Well, consider this my weapon of mass CONstruction. Thanks for the inspiration, Mr. Sparks.

However, in the write up they replaced 'Urban' with 'Hood.' Now I know it may seem trivial, and although I do appreciate the exposure, I don't want my work to be perceived as substandard or of bootleg status, which is what that term suggests. That's exactly the perception I'm trying to avoid personally and change among talented minority tat artists.

Now, if you didn't get a chance to grab a copy of the latest volume of Black Book - Images From the Urban due to the immediate sell-out of the first run, have no fear for the second run will be here and for sale March 28th. Copies of the first volume will go to print at the beginning of April if you missed the first run. I'll offer a special for both once they're both in my hands.

Brooklyn's Finast

However, as much as I liked to visit, I NEVER imagined living here. As luck would have it though, I was blessed with an opportunity to learn the 'prestigious' art of tattooin' which was the means by which I was able to move here to Brooklyn, and NOT have to work at McDonald's to support myself while painting at night.

Now, some 18 years later, here I am in the heart beat, of style and culture, New York City. Although I've visited, worked, and have friends ALL over the city, I must admit that right here in Bed Stuy is my favorite. Like Biggie Said, " Brooklyn is the borough!"

As a tribute, I put together 4 designs with Brooklyn as the theme for the recently past DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass)- FEST. Originally, designed to be a 3D collage, I thought it would be great to sell them as limited edition shirts, that include a framable signed color print.

As for the other boroughs, stay tuned...
